Looks for alternative source of income for Infrastructure costs.
On Thursday, Speaker Pelosi announced that she would not support an increase in the national gas tax as a means of raising funds for infrastructure projects. She said, “I’m not even sure if it’s in, but one thing they were going to do was expand the gas tax. I would not be for that.” Currently, senators from both sides of the aisle are debating what the national infrastructure plan ought to contain.
One of the biggest reasons for the House Speaker’s rejection of the tax increase is its impact on lower and middle-income Americans. She said, “ America’s working families should be footing the bill for roads and bridges and the rest that America’s wealthiest people and their businesses are using without paying for them.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God to guide Congress as it debates the best route forward for a national infrastructure plan.
- For Speaker Pelosi to seek God’s direction as she leads the House.
- For members of Congress as they seek alternative forms of funding to support infrastructure.
